A local report states that about two-thirds of adult residents are either overweight or obese. In Rowan County, 38 percent of our population is classified as obese.

Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the U.S. and Rowan County, with 22.5 percent of children seen by Salisbury Pediatrics in 2018 considered obese. There are long-term effects that obesity can play on a child’s physical, social, and emotional health.

We need strong community support to be successful. We want to make the healthy choice the easy choice by getting kids and families MOVIN' so that we can help children and adults combat obesity.
